Army Dog Center in Larkana
Larkana is a rice-growing city of northern Sindh, a short drive from the ruins of Mohenjo-daro, with Ratodero, Dokri and Garhi Khuda Bakhsh in the district. It lies on a flat, heavily irrigated plain between Sukkur and Dadu, crossed by canals and drains.
Situations we are asked about in Larkana
- Rice stocks, tube-well motors and tractors taken from a farm or mill yard.
- Houses in the city entered while families were away at weddings.
- Visitors separated from a group at the Mohenjo-daro site or on the road to it.
- A person missing along a canal bank after dark.
Rice paddies stay flooded for much of the season, and mud takes footprints but also loses them within a day. Canals and drains give offenders quiet routes out of a village. A trained dog follows scent along embankments and field edges where nobody can follow by eye. In the city itself, narrow lanes fill with people quickly, so closing off a doorway helps a great deal.
When you call, tell us whether you are in the city, in a village, or at the site, which canal or road is closest, and what time you found the loss. Keep the spot clear, and put worn clothing in a clean bag away from damp. Report serious crimes to the police on 15, then call Army Dog Center on 0300-5780720, any hour.
If your loss is near Mohenjo-daro, tell us whether it happened inside the site compound or on the road leading to it. Site staff often keep visitor records and may have seen who came and went, so ask them to note names and times before anyone leaves the area.
