Army Dog Center in Murree

Murree is the best-known hill station in Punjab, with the Mall Road, Bhurban, Patriata and Ghora Gali, reached by the road from Islamabad through pine forest. Hotels, rented cottages and weekend houses stand along steep roads, and snow closes the roads in winter.

Situations we are asked about in Murree

• Theft from a hotel room, cottage or parked car during a busy weekend.
• A tourist or hiker lost on a forest trail near Patriata or Bhurban.
• Weekend houses entered while the owners were in Islamabad or Lahore.
• A vehicle taken from a roadside car park on a hill road.

Murree's population changes completely between weekdays and holidays, and so does the crowd on the Mall. Many houses stand empty for weeks, and a break-in may go unnoticed. Rain and mist are common, steep slopes make footing hard, and slides can block roads. Scent can still be followed on forest paths, but rain washes it fast, so a clean sheet over the spot is a good first step.

Tell us the hotel, cottage or road, the time, and what happened. Report serious crimes to the police on 15, then call Army Dog Center on 0300-5780720, any hour.

For weekend houses, tell us who has the keys, when the caretaker last visited, and whether power or water was on. If a hiker is missing, give the trail name, the time they started, what they carried, and whether the weather was clear or misty when they were last seen.

Calls from Murree are answered at any hour, including nights, weekends and public holidays.
